Adept Rogue:
Although fully-extended Adept Rogues are allotted three jobs, their job levels raise much more slowly than any other class. Thus, a level 20 Shadow Warlock will have access to more skills than a level 20 Adept Rogue with Shadow Warlock as his or her only unlocked job. However, although progression is slower, a fully leveled Adept Rogue has access to more skills than any single class, and is very useful as a "jack of all trades". When an Adept Rogue obtains their final Job Extension, they obtain the ability to use Multi-Trigger. This allows the user to mix and match Skill Triggers from different jobs, automatically switching weapons to accommodate a chosen skill.
At the time of creation, the user picks 2 to 3 classes using a point-buy system, which restricts certain "unbalanced" combinations, such as Shadow Warlock and Harvest Cleric. They also pick freely from one of the 3 armor types. The Adept Rogue starts out in the game with their first chosen class, and must unlock the remainder through Job Extend. An Adept Rogue is given 5 points to use to choose from the following job options:
Blade Brandier - 1 Point
Demon Trainer - 1 Point
Edge Punisher - 1 Point
Twin Blade - 1 Point
Trickster - 1 Point
Highland Shinobi - 1 Point
Hunter - 1 Point
Shield Bearer - 1 Point
Zulu Warrior - 1 Point
Speed Demon - 2 Points
Flick Reaper - 2 Points
Lord Partizan - 2 Points
Imperial Guard - 2 Points
Tribal Grappler - 2 Points
Beast Tamer - 2 Points
Medieval Flail - 2 Points
Tempest Piercer - 2 Points
Vulcan Berserker - 2 Points
Macabre Dancer - 3 Points
Shadow Caster - 3 Points
Rocketeer - 3 Points
Doppelganger - 3 Points
Harvest Cleric - 3 Points
Spell Reaver - 3 Points
Shadow Warlock - 3 Points
Thread Lasher - 3 Points
Steam Gunner - 3 Points
Alchemist - 3 Points
Blade Brandier:
A Blade Brandier's damage and hit rate are somewhere in between Twin Blade and Edge Punisher, making it an average class in terms of strength. In regards to speed, the Blade Brandier is not as fast as a Twin Blade or Tribal Grappler, however, they are much faster than heavily armored classes, such as Lord Partizan.
Macabre Dancer:
Macabre Dancers are the expert class for status effects and parameter changes, and are very balanced casters, learning both healing and attack spells. Like Harvest Clerics and Shadow Warlocks, Macabre Dancers gain spells incredibly quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts.
Edge Punisher:
Edge Punishers excel in physical attacking, especially against armored foes; however, they are much slower than classes such as the Blade Brandier. Edge Punishers also have higher defense from the heavy armors they can equip.
Flick Reaper:
Flick Reapers are very weak to long range attacks. They're the medium range, "area attack" class. They "flick" multiple enemies and push them away before they can get close enough for melee attacks, but a good Steam Gunner or Lord Partizan could overpower them by attacking from afar.
Harvest Cleric:
Their favored weapons are staves, which give bonuses to their magic and elemental stats, and can be used in melee combat, being considerably physicially stronger by level than grimoires but weaker than any other type of weapon. In exchange, Harvest Cleric staves give a much lower magic bonus than Shadow Warlock grimoires, though the elemental bonuses are around the same. Like bayonets, neither staves nor grimoires have special types (i.e. "Hold and Release", "Rapid Attacks") for melee combat. Like Macabre Dancers and Shadow Warlocks, Harvest Clerics learn spells incredibly fast, at a rate of almost 1 per job level, but learn no arts.
Lord Partizan:
Lord Partizans have good medium range attacks, but don't excel at "sweeping" attacks like Flick Reapers. Their defense and physical attack stats are very high, with magical attack being their only real weakness. They're also more monster-oriented, with a lot of good armor-piercing and anti-air weapons and skills. Their skill progression for low levels is also among the lowest. Overall, this class can cause the most immediate damage.
Shadow Warlock:
Their favored weapons are Grimoires, which give bonuses to their magic and elemental stats, and can be used in melee combat, although with very little effect. Shadow Warlock tomes give a much higher magic bonus and have a much lower physical attack than Harvest Cleric staves, though the elemental bonuses are around the same. Like bayonets, neither staves nor grimoires have special types (i.e. "Rapid Attacks", "Hold and Release") for melee combat. Like Macabre Dancers and Harvest Clerics, Shadow Warlocks gain spells very quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts.
Steam Gunner:
Steam Gunners are the physical equivalent of Shadow Warlocks. Their shots are skills that operate exactly the same way spells do, but deal physical damage instead. Steam Gunners' shots have greater range than any other physical hit, and their physical attack stat has the fastest progression of any class (as of Rebirth). In exchange, their melee hits take the same penalty as those of the other "caster" classes in R:2 in that they lack any of the special types (i.e. "rapid attacks", "hold and release") that most classes have access to.
Dual Gunner:
As a Dual Gunner, a PC can shoot from nearly any distance on the battlefield, although the closer he is to the target, the more damage he/she deals. He/She can move while shooting, allowing the player to switch between higher damage on close combat or lower damage on distance. Instead of a combo, shots are fired two per attack until the guns' ammunition is depleted. After all ammunition has been expended, the weapons are automatically reloaded, which takes only a short moment, but you can also manually reload any time by pressing the Guard button. The Build-Up Attack is an area attack that targets and hits all enemies three times with damage that is also dependent on range from the target, reloading the guns in the process. After any skill from the Skill Trigger is performed, a Dual Gunner can use an ability called Double Trigger. This activates a weapon change to the Dual Guns to perform the skill Judgment (if learned), which costs no additional SP. Dual Gunners can slide along the ground while shooting with the dual guns, allowing him to attack and move at the same time.
The Dual Gunner can easily attack from afar, and quickly racks up hits, in turn leading to much quicker Rengeki. It also easily blasts airborne enemies out of the air, putting them in a lock which is impossible for single targets to escape. The one downfall of the Dual Gunner is that even though you can attack from anywhere, you still deal the most amount of damage when at point-blank range though being able to move while shooting means that even at point blank range you can still avoid the attacks of most enemies. The Dual Gunner class also allows for an addition "Dodge" maneuver making it easier for any Dual Gunner to evade enemy attacks, which can be used with any weapon. This class has been transformed into a Job Extension solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Tribal Grappler:
This class has the advantage of a very high attack speed, allowing it to achieve normal Rengeki extremely fast, in addition to very high HP. Their defense, however, is very low.
Claw Reaver:
This class is able to use clawed gauntlets, once job extended. They are of the fastest classes on 'The World' R:3X, and the can easily gain Rengeki: ZERO. Though like the Tribal Grappler, this class also has a limited repertoire of skills and attacks. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Twin Blade:
In The World R:3X, Twin Blades are extremely versatile, with more weapon types and subtypes than any other class. Their attacks are somewhat weak, but quick and easy to combo. Twin Blades have high agility and attack with two short swords. Their rapid attacks leave no opening for an opponent to counterattack.
Imperial Guard:
They favor the use of long swords, similar to that of the Royal Knight. They tend to attack the vital spots for most damage, but are off set by most attacks that are beyond mid-range. They learn many skills that focus on their sword shifting form, but are reduced to an intermediate speed level. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Shadow Caster:
This class uses a special stone or orb to focus much of their energy into their shadows, allowing them to cast out the shadows as attacks. The shadows are sharpened and very fast, and can attack various points on the body simultaniously. They specialize in mid-range+, and are weak against anyone that can get past their shadows. Though at the risk of being attacked, a Shadow Caster can form their shadow into a Doppelganger of the enemy, and use that to do battle, the only downside is that the caster must first learn that skill. This class was inspired by Pride: The Homunculus, and created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Shadow Painter:
Shadow Painters are very skilled in making doppelgangers. The Shadow Orb that they use to cast their shadows are morphed to accomadate much more energy that is used to make the Doppelgangers. The Doppelganger shadows are much more useful than just copying PCs and Monsters, they can also make weapons. So a Shadow Painter would be able to try out Flick Reaper. This is a great class to choose if you want to plan out your future PCs. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Hunter:
This class uses standard bows for long-ranged attacking, though, the bows do have blades on either side of the handle, much like Pit's (Super Smash Brothers Brawl) bow. Even though they specialize in ranged attacks, they are also highly suseptable to long-ranged attacks. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Rare Hunter:
This is the job extended version of a Hunter. They use bladed bows as well, but the compound bows are much stronger and sharper than standard bows. This class is also of the fastest in 'The World' R:3X, making it easier to catch Lucky Animals. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Beast Tamer:
This class favors using long whips as weapons, which are ideal for grappling and lashing out at the enemy. This class is very courageous and durable, meaning they have a high defense. They aren't fast, but they are best used when in the center of the battlefield. Instead of gliding along the ground like a Dual Gunner, a Beast Tamer Pivots in a circular motion while attacking. When situated in the center of the battlefield, the Beast Tamer is nearly invincible, though they still take damage. Though they are very weak to extremely close range attacks. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Beast Charmer:
This class uses war instruments to lull monsters into a trance. This class is good for Charm, Sleep, Curse, or Sealing another PC or Monster. This ability does not work on other Beast Tamers and Beast Charmers. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Vulcan Berserker:
This class is highly skilled in flame based attacking, and melee attacks. They favor the use of Knuckled Brawling Gloves, which are extremely light weight. Much lighter than that of the Tribal Grappler. This is most likely the sister class of the Tribal Grappler. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Zulu Warrior:
This class battles with Baton like sticks, and are very agile. They're agility easily places them with the fastest classes in'The World' R:3X. They one downfall is that they aren't heavily armored like most warrior classes, this makes them vulnerable to heavy attacks. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Tempest Piercer:
This class love the use of tridents, a 3 pronged battle fork. This class is high in SP progression and attack power. This class' skill focuses mainly on the use of thunder. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Medieval Flail:
They use flails and maces to attack the opponent from mid-range. They are relatively slow and have a weak spot for magical attacks. They have high physical attack and defense values, but is probably one of the slowest classes in 'The World' R:3X, and the brother class of Lord Partizan. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Thread Lasher:
A Thread Lasher uses special string that is lead through the users back to lash out at enemies. Thread Lashers worship the god of threads: Kandata, and so their favored weapon os the threat that feeds through a Thread Lashers back, that thread is called Kandata String, or Senshi Thread. Senshi is a translated version of Kandata. These threads are extremely dangerous. They pose a much greater threat than the Beast Tamer's Whip. This is because the Senshi Thread is much thinner than the Beast Tamer's Whip, which means that it can cut through boulders with ease. This class was created solely and exclusively for Dot.Hack//Traces.
Death Weaver:
This class has strengthened the Senshi Thread to creat the Senshi Cloth. This substance is much thicker and heavier than the original Kandata String. This means that the class can easilly bludgeon an opponent as opposed to its previous job form. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Shield Bearer:
A Shield Bearer is the brother class of the Imperial Knight. Much like ancient Spartans, this class uses a shield to fight. This means that this class can attack and defend at the same time. That makes this class very dangerous, but it is very weak against Grimoires specifically. This class was created solely and exclusively for Dot.Hack//Traces.
Trickster:
The Trickster loves to use Stilettos. In the beginning of a battle a Trickster has a nasty habit of flipping the Stiletto to determine which stance to take: Forehanded, or Backhanded. Either way the Trickster is very versatile, but unlike the Twin Blade, the Trickster has two sets of skills: Forehand and Backhand. This class was created solely and exclusively for Dot.Hack//Traces.
Spell Reaver:
This class uses an Incantation Grimoire, meaning thet they can only learn Attack Spells. This class is almost exactly like the Shadow Warlock, only this class cannot learn heal/support spells. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Highland Shinobi:
This class can wield up to two weapons: The Ball and Scicle, and the standard Shuriken. That means this class would have two skill sets. The Highland Shinobi is one of the most versatile classes in 'The World' R:3X. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Rocketeer:
This is the only class that is allowed a Steam Bike at the beginning of the game. That is because the Steam Bike is the beginner weapon for Rocketeers. They use an array of auxillary attatchments on the Steam Bike to battle. one downside is that they use the Sub armor Type and are vulnerable when their Steam Bike overheats. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Alchemist:
This class uses a variety of transmutation circles. The circle can be attatched to any weapon, meaning that the Alchemist can wield any weapon in 'The World' R:3X. This class is without a doubt the most versatile. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Demon Trainer:
The Demon Trainer uses Battle Pets to do their dirty work. This class exploits Battle Pets like Pokemon. That means that they're screwed when the Battle Pet is defeated. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Speed Demon:
Speed Demons use the speed stat to attack. When Speed Demons perform their skills, the Speed stat becomes a part of the P. Atk. stat. They are the hardest class to catch in battle, and the fastest class in 'The World' R:3X. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Dopelganger:
A Doppelganger can imitate any being that they've met. Their skills work a lot like a Shadow Painter's skills, but they arent weak against their opponents. They are actually a very sturdy class, and can use Doppelganger to heal themselves. This class was created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Card User:
This class uses a deck full of hexagonal cards to attack the opponent. The Card User has the largest array of skills in 'The World' R:3X, and learn them the fastest. That's because the Card Users gain card data of each monster that they defeat. This class is available only through the Job Change Quest: 'To Catch A Card Master' and has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
Card Master:
There are very few Card Masters in 'The World' R:3X. This is all because the Job Change Quest, 'To Catch A Card Master' only comes by once a month, and can only be taken once. This quest will remain for a week out of the month, and then it is retracted from the Quest Inventory. The Card Master also use a deck of hexagonal cards, but the Card Master has more than twice the amount of skills than that of the Card User. This class has been created solely and exclusively for the use of Dot.Hack//Traces.
